What file formats are supported?+
SliceShelf supports STL, OBJ, 3MF, FBX, glTF/GLB, PWSZ, CTB, PM7M, PM3N, and Chitubox formats. STL, OBJ, 3MF, FBX, and glTF/GLB get full interactive 3D previews (game assets default to a solid-color mesh with an optional texture toggle). Slicer files (PWSZ, CTB, etc.) show embedded thumbnails, layer counts, and internal structure via diagnostics. Print cost estimates apply to print files only, not FBX/glTF/GLB.
Is my data stored in the cloud?+
No. SliceShelf is fully local. Your files never leave your machine. All previews, notes, tags, and settings are stored on your own hard drive. The only network calls are for account authentication and license verification.
What can I do on the free plan?+
The free tier gives you unlimited STL file previews with interactive 3D orbit controls, sorting (by name, date, size, or extension), grid and list view modes, single-folder scanning, and basic file actions (reveal in Finder, open, copy path). Upgrade to Pro for all formats, search, tags, notes, diagnostics, cost estimation, rename, and recursive scanning.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?+
You keep full Pro access until the end of your billing period. After that, you revert to the free tier. Your files, notes, and tags remain on your machine and are never deleted.
How does the cost estimation work?+
Choose between resin (SLA/DLP) or filament (FDM) as your material type, globally or per file. For sliced files, SliceShelf calculates cost from layer count and layer height. For resin it estimates volume (mL); for filament it estimates weight (g) using typical infill and PLA density. For unsliced models, it provides a rough estimate from file size. Choose from 14 currencies, set a global price, or override per file.
Can I export diagnostics reports?+
Yes. Run batch diagnostics on all slicer files in your library, then export results as JSON or Markdown reports. You can also copy all diagnostics to your clipboard for quick sharing.
Can I use SliceShelf on multiple devices?+
Yes, your license covers up to 3 devices. You can activate SliceShelf on your desktop, laptop, and one additional machine.
